Anahadonia is a female fronted, hard-core metal band from Austin, Texas. The term anhedonia refers to a medical illness in which the victim’s brain does not have the capability to produce certain chemicals responsible for the different emotions. In this case, the person only is physiologically able to experience sadness.
The band currently consists of four members: Neal (guitars, keyboards), Kevin (bass, guitars), Michele (vocals, cello, violin, dulcimer, keyboards), and Gabe on drums. Anahadonia formed in the end of 1999 when Neal and Michele met Kevin at a special screening of "The Wizard of Oz." They originally formed in Waco and has since relocated to Austin. Since then, they have played shows and have completed two demos, "Dies Nefaustus" and "When There Are No Answers." Their ex-drummer, Travis recorded drums for the latest demo. The band has played in numerous clubs ranging from cities including Waco, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Killeen, Temple, Corpus Christi, San Marcos, and Brownsville. Anahadonia is primarily a metal band with a touch of industrial, classical and grunge influence. Influences include Slipknot, Acid Bath, Devil Driver, Nirvana, Static X, NIN, Crossbreed, S.O.A.D., and White Zombie.
Kevin is a UT student and enjoys disc golf, music and art. Michele is a St. Edwards University graduate and enjoys drawing, music, writing, and reading. She has also done freelance musical projects for Waco Musical Inc., Mary Moody Theatre, McLennan Community College, Waco Civic Theatre, and Temple Civic Theatre. Neal is a freelance artist and has experience in web design and recording. He is the web designer for the bands’ website.
